Cemeteries, as collective memorial sites, bear the grief of the living for the deceased. Within cemeteries, besides the remains of the deceased, tombstones and decorations have also become important elements of mourning. The author attempts to deconstruct traditional memorial spaces, transitioning from text to sound, and constructs a real-time, fluid memorial space through auditory means. By creating a memorial space composed of sounds, the work integrates different temporal and spatial locations through the medium of sound, thereby forming a collective memorial platform.
You may upload or record your audio file here, with a duration between 15 seconds and three minutes. In your recording, you may speak to a departed loved one who holds special meaning for you, read an epitaph for yourself or another person, or share any thoughts, fragments of speech, or sounds associated with death that come to mind. When recording, please maintain a suitable distance from the microphone—neither too far nor too close—to ensure clear articulation. Avoid clipping. (i.e., excessive volume levels that damage the recording)
Your participation will help us build a collective medium of mourning composed of sounds, connecting emotions of remembrance through a continuous flow of language and memories, and entering a space of mourning where only murmurs like a river exist. Your privacy will be protected. The sounds you record will only be played in the speakers at the venue and will not be used for any other purpose or commercial use.
